The Hummingbird Bakery
When I was in London visiting The Primrose Bakery I also happened to stop by one of The Hummingbird bakery’s shops. This was one of the smaller ones I assume as it was tiny. There was hardly anywhere to sit and their wasn’t much in there. I love The Hummingbird Bakery’s books so I was thrilled to be able to visit one of their bakery’s and sample a few of their baked goods. We managed to snap a few photo’s while in the que and overall it was a pleasant experience. I would like to visit some more of their bakery’s to compare them and to try some more of their tasty treats, if I do I shall certainly share my trip with you all. Hope you enjoy the photo’s!
Here is a selection of some of their cakes. I can see a red velvet one in the background on the left, and a carrot one to the back also I think to the right. I didn’t have time to have a look at each of them and make notes as the store is laid out in an awkward queuing system. You can’t really take your time to look if someone is standing behind you.
Here are some cupcakes on the bottom shelves and on the top shelves there are brownies and some whoopie pies. I’m not to sure what the other baked treats are.
Here is the cupcake selection, there wasn’t that much choice, you can see some vanilla cupcakes, chocolate cupcakes and some red velvet ones. They have certain day’s where certain cupcakes are available. Saturday was Eton Mess Cupcake day. I purchased one of these.
You can slightly make out the queuing system here. If it’s fast-moving and you’ve people behind you, you don’t really get a chance to take your time and have a good look.
Your takeaway treats come in these sweet little boxes. We chose an Eton Mess Cupcake and a Red Velvet Cupcake.
On the left is the Red Velvet and on the right is the Eton Mess cupcake.
The Eton Mess Cupcake was delicious. It had a light, creamy icing with sliced strawberries on top. The texture of the crumb was lovely and light. Perfect for summertime.
Here is the Red Velvet Cupcake, it had a lovely cream cheese icing and the crumb was lovely and light. It was also dusted with red velvet cake crumbs. I thought this was lovely touch to the cake.
